West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and its chief, Mamata Banerjee, have faced serious allegations of corruption, with several top leaders detained by central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation. Despite these challenges, the TMC performed well in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, securing 29 out of the state’s 42 seats, compared to the BJP’s 12.
